Maddie studied abroad through the WIP Madrid program in Madrid, Spain during Spring Semester 2024. During her time abroad, she took courses in Spanish literature, culture, cinema, and phonetics—all taught entirely in Spanish by local professors. This enriching experience not only fulfilled her Spanish major requirements but also significantly enhanced her language skills. Throughout her program, she was able to immerse herself in Spanish culture in this large city known for its museums, food, and vibrant people. Living with a host mother also allowed her to deepen her connection to the city and its people. Some of her favorite memories in Madrid include a program excursion to Toledo, Spain and a paella cooking class! Maddie is incredibly grateful for her time abroad and hopes to continue traveling to new places.
