Shalya studied abroad during Summer 2023 in Karatu, Tanzania with the School for Field Studies at their Wildlife Management & Wildlife Research Center. Despite being unrelated to her major, Shalya has a passion for animals and wildlife conservation. She viewed the opportunity to study in Tanzania as a way to expand her knowledge, and experience wildlife from a conservationist perspective. Some of Shalya’s most memorable moments from her time abroad were camping in the Serengeti, visiting local villages, trying new foods, and playing staff vs student volleyball games during free time. Shalya cherishes her experience abroad and hopes to continue traveling to new places.
