Taylor Heinicke

Credentials: Prague, Czech Republic

Position title: Engagement Intern

Taylor studied during Spring 2022 on a provider program in Prague, Czech Republic. She lived in an apartment with other study abroad students from across the United States and with local Czech students. This allowed her to build more friendships within the community and gain a better understanding of Czech perspective and culture. She studied Czech language and Central European history and culture during her time there. The war in Ukraine broke out the second month in Prague, and she was able to gain more insight into how lasting the effects of communism, and the fear of it returning was in the region. She volunteered at a local elementary school in an after school English program which allowed her to better integrate and interact with people she would not have met solely within her program. After her studies in Prague, Taylor flew to Seoul, South Korea where she spent eight weeks of the summer interning as an English teacher in the Gangnam district. She plans to resume living abroad after graduation and pursue a career in Global Education Policy. She appreciates her most recent experiences as essential building blocks for her future, and values the connections she made with her students, friends, peers, and colleagues. These have made a lasting impression, and she hopes they are relationships that will continue for many years to come.
