Isabella participated in the AYF program where she was an exchange student in Freiburg, Germany her sophomore year. She was academically challenged by taking courses at the medieval university, as well as being able to intern for a local political organization. She also lived with German students, which allowed her to speak German every day, both in academic and informal settings. She loved exploring the city of Freiburg and the surrounding Black Forest by using Germany’s wonderful public transportation system. Isabella also felt lucky to be part of a yearlong program, as she was able to form lifelong friendships and feel like a Freiburg local by the end of the program.
