Grade Processing
After you complete your study abroad program, a transcript of your courses and grades is sent back to your study abroad office. The time it takes for your transcript to arrive varies widely by program.
We are able to process your grades once we have received your transcript, all of your course equivalents are approved, and you have completed the online program evaluation. When these items are completed, you will receive an email that your Grade Report is ready for review in your MyStudyAbroad account.
You have 30 days to review and verify your grade report. Your credits and grades will not post to your UW-Madison transcript until you approve them through your MyStudyAbroad account.
If you are unsure how your approved equivalents will apply to your degree requirements, be sure to review your DARS, consult the Guide, or confer with your academic advisor(s) before approving your report. If you have any questions or concerns, contact your Enrollment Specialist Advisor (ESA) before you approve the report.
IAP will not make changes to your equivalents or grades after your report has been sent to the Office of the Registrar unless there is clear evidence of clerical error. If you do not approve your grades or contact your ESA within 30 days of notification, IAP will forward your equivalents and grades to the Office of the Registrar for final posting on your UW-Madison transcript.
For academic year or calendar year participants, grades for the entire year abroad are processed at the end of your program. Thus, your first semester grades are not posted to your UW-Madison transcript until after your study abroad program is completed.
Transcripts
Our office cannot order official UW-Madison transcripts or forward official UW-Madison transcripts on a student’s behalf. The Office of the Registrar transcript website has detailed information about how to obtain a transcript. The typical time for processing a transcript request is 1–3 days. UW-Madison unofficial Student Records are available online through MyUW.
If you are a non-UW-Madison student who has gone on a study abroad program, you will need to submit a request for the Office of the Registrar to send your official transcript to your home institution.
