The University of Wisconsin–Madison’s Global Gateway Initiative has been offering students one-of-a-kind study abroad opportunities for over a decade. Since its start in China in 2014, the faculty-led program has expanded to multiple locations, including Brazil, India, Botswana, Ghana, Singapore, and Washington, D.C.
With five study abroad programs complete, Taigan Anderson is making the most of her first two years at UW-Madison. She has traveled to Vienna, Austria; Angers, France; across Iceland; and Obihiro, Japan to study global health, food systems, and agriculture. She’s majoring in agroecology and life science communications with certificates in global health and geospatial data science. Anderson is one of the first students in the new agroecology undergraduate program. She hopes to use her knowledge in agroecology to connect with fresh produce such as working at a farm-to-table restaurant.
Study abroad in Osaka, one of Japan's largest cities, over the summer! This program is a great choice for students who have already started learning Japanese and want to focus their study through an intensive language course. Osaka is a vibrant, exciting location with a lot to explore, especially over the summer festival season.
