People of UW: Kallen Wank educates on climate change through study abroad program

Kallen Wank shares about her experience interning abroad with Green Moluccas, a nonprofit organization based on Ambon Island in the Maluku region of Indonesia. As an intern, Kallen spent 10 weeks working on mangrove restoration projects, teaching younger generations about climate change, and helping to build a sense of urgency around protecting Ambon’s coastlines and ecosystems.

Agroecology Abroad: Q&A with Taigan Anderson

With five study abroad programs complete, Taigan Anderson is making the most of her first two years at UW-Madison. She has traveled to Vienna, Austria; Angers, France; across Iceland; and Obihiro, Japan to study global health, food systems, and agriculture. She’s majoring in agroecology and life science communications with certificates in global health and geospatial data science. Anderson is one of the first students in the new agroecology undergraduate program. She hopes to use her knowledge in agroecology to connect with fresh produce such as working at a farm-to-table restaurant.

New Program: CET Japan Summer Study Abroad

Study abroad in Osaka, one of Japan’s largest cities, over the summer! This program is a great choice for students who have already started learning Japanese and want to focus their study through an intensive language course. Osaka is a vibrant, exciting location with a lot to explore, especially over the summer festival season.
