Extended Insurance Coverage
Options for extending your insurance coverage before and/or after your program:
- Purchase Coverage before your program
- Purchase coverage after your program
- Purchase coverage before and after your program
Note: The month of coverage cannot be split up to 2 weeks before 2 weeks after, nor any other combinations.
This coverage is monthly-based, so if you are traveling for less than a month before or after your program, you still need to purchase the full month.
Traveling before your program
You can do one of the following to purchase coverage before your program:
- Go to CISI’s website
- Click on the arrow next to the ‘Insurance Plans’ tab
- Choose ‘Individual Studying Outside of the U.S.’
- Select ‘Upgraded Comprehensive’ (this coverage is the most similar to the one you have through your program)
- Select ‘Enroll Now’ at the bottom of the ‘Upgraded Comprehensive’ box
- From there follow the steps to enroll

- Login into your myCISI Portal
- Click on ‘Purchase Individual Coverage’
- Follow the steps to enroll
Traveling after your program
You can do one of the following to purchase coverage after your program:
- Go to CISI’s website
- Click on the arrow next to the ‘Insurance Plans’ tab
- Choose ‘Extend My Insurance Plan’
- Follow the steps to enroll

- Click on ‘Purchase Individual Coverage’
- Follow the steps to enroll
