Biography
Programs: University of Queensland; UW Global Gateway in Washington DC
Major: Social Work
Certificates: Health in the Humanities; Criminal Justice
I participated in both domestic and international study abroad programs, first as a sophomore in Washington DC for a short duration and next as a junior in Australia for an entire semester. As a social work student, I used both programs to explore career opportunities and expand my education beyond UW Madison. I had never traveled outside of the country before, so Washington DC was a great transition into what a semester long program might look like.
I highly recommend an international program to anyone who might be interested. Australia was outside of my comfort zone, but I went for it and hope to return in the future. My favorite parts were meeting people from all over the world, snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef, experiencing Aussie cafe culture, and getting involved in UQ campus life. I feel like I only scratched the surface of all Australia has to offer! I hope to move forward with my new passion for travel and continue to learn beyond my field of study.
