Sidney participated in the UW in Florence program during the Spring 2024 semester. As a student studying political science and history, this program allowed her to immerse herself in the rich cultural history of the Renaissance. She studied the history of the Medici dynasty, the food and culture of Italy, the Italian language, and the secrets and legends of Florence. Some of her best learning experiences abroad were from her class field trips to museums, landmarks, and important areas of the city. Many of her favorite memories abroad were the programs’ organized excursions; such as rafting on the Arno, taking pasta and pizza cooking classes, sampling gelato, and exploring neighboring cities. Sidney’s experience abroad has granted her a new outlook on life, and she hopes to have the opportunity to learn abroad again.
